We’re a husband wife dynamic duo blending our diverse backgrounds and passions to create something truly special for families like ours. I’m Shikha, an American-born foodie deeply immersed in the tech world, while my husband hails from India, where his love for history and cricket runs deep. Together, we bring a unique perspective to the world of children’s books.
With the arrival of our recent bundle of joy, we embarked on a heartfelt journey to pass down our heritage and language—Hindi—to our little one. However, we faced a significant challenge: finding bilingual baby board books that fit our unique situation. While I speak Hindi, I can’t read or write it, making it difficult to find the right resources to support our child’s bilingual upbringing.
Determined to bridge this gap, we decided to create our own solution. Unapologetically Desi was born out of our commitment to preserving Indian culture while raising our child in the US. We wanted to provide engaging, high-quality bilingual books that not only teach Hindi but also celebrate the richness of South Asian cultures.
